Bryan Kohberger, the convicted killer of four University of Idaho students, will not be transferred from the Idaho Maximum Security Institution. Reports circulating in January 2026 suggested aggressive negotiations were underway between out-of-state prisons interested in housing him, with Idaho officials eager to move him due to drama he has reportedly caused. However, a spokesperson for the Idaho Department of Correction has refuted these claims, stating the department is not considering a move for Inmate #163214.
Kohberger is currently housed at the Idaho State Correctional Complex in Kuna, Idaho, where he is expected to remain for the rest of his life. He has reportedly expressed unhappiness with his living situation, complaining about fellow inmates taunting him and making threats. As a vegan, Kohberger has also filed complaints regarding his food, specifically alleging that he has not received all items on his tray and has received subpar fruit, including bananas.
