A drunken ex-businessman, David Turner, subjected his wife to a violent assault during a luxury holiday in Thailand on July 4, 2024. The attack, which took place at the Le Meridien Khao Lak Resort and Spa, involved strangulation, punching, and kicking, leaving the victim fearing for her life. She described Turner as 'frothing at the mouth' during the horrifying ordeal.
Following the incident, the victim and her son retrieved their passports and left. Turner, who had no prior convictions, was arrested upon his return to the UK. The victim detailed the lasting trauma, including panic attacks and nightmares, stating she lived in fear of him re-entering her home.
Appearing at Hull Crown Court, Turner pleaded guilty and was sentenced to a 20-month suspended prison sentence, 200 hours of unpaid work, and a 10-year restraining order. He was also ordered to pay £2,000 in compensation. His defense cited remorse and the attack being out of character after 28 years of marriage.
