Brown University Shooting Survivor Recounts Terrifying Ordeal

A Brown University freshman, Teo Miranda-Moreno, recounted spending seven hours in lockdown after a deadly shooting occurred on campus. He described the intense panic and efforts to ensure his friends' safety during the harrowing experience. The incident, which took place on December 13th, tragically resulted in the deaths of two students and left nine others injured.

Investigators identified the gunman as a former Brown University student who was later found deceased from a suspected suicide in New Hampshire. Miranda-Moreno, who knew one of the victims, expressed profound grief over the loss of his peer. He recalled narrowly avoiding being in the vicinity of the shooting himself.

Following the tragedy, Brown University has heightened security and plans a comprehensive review of its safety protocols. While students are set to return to classes in January, the event has amplified calls for stricter gun control measures. Miranda-Moreno emphasized the need for dialogue to create safer educational environments nationwide, citing that 75 school shootings had already occurred in the U.S. in 2025.
