The alleged attacker fled the scene on foot initially. However, police apprehended a 32-year-old man from Raceview later that same afternoon after he allegedly drove back past the crime scene.
Investigators were aided significantly by dashcam footage provided by two members of the public, which proved to be the final piece in identifying the suspect's vehicle and leading to his arrest. He faces charges including rape, stalking, and assault.
The victim, who sustained injuries during the assault, is now being cared for by her family and has received comprehensive medical and psychological support. Police have commended her bravery in coming forward.
