In Ghaziabad, a real estate broker named Dheeraj Kumar was arrested on Friday. He is accused of abetting the suicide of his employee, Ashi Gautam, who was found deceased in his office. Gautam, aged 28, was reportedly distressed due to five months of unpaid wages from Kumar.
The relationship between Gautam and Kumar allegedly became romantic, despite Kumar being married with a child, a fact he reportedly concealed. When Gautam learned of his marriage, Kumar allegedly promised to leave his wife but later threatened her and her family when marriage was raised again.
As the sole earner for her family, Gautam was struggling to pay loan EMIs due to the withheld salary. Police stated this immense pressure likely led to her alleged suicide, and Kumar was arrested under Section 108 of the BNS for abetment of suicide. Statements from other employees are pending.
