- Attack allegedly by neighbor with unrequited love.
- Bride named accused while being rushed to hospital.

A wedding celebration in Buxar district turned tragic Tuesday night when an 18-year-old bride, Aarti Kumari, was shot on stage. The incident happened in Mallah Tola of Chausa nagar panchayat during the 'jaimala' ceremony.
Family members allege the shooter is a neighborhood youth who harbored unrequited feelings for Aarti. Eyewitnesses reported a masked man climbed the stage and fired, hitting the bride in the stomach. The sound was initially masked by loud wedding music.
Aarti was taken to the sadar hospital and later referred to Varanasi in critical condition, where she is now stable. During transport, she identified "Deenbandhu" as the assailant. Police are investigating the love affair angle and have detained two people, with the main accused currently absconding.
Locals suggest the accused had pursued Aarti for two years and allegedly harassed a previous groom's family, causing an earlier marriage to be called off.
