A distressing incident occurred in Old Goole, East Yorkshire, on Tuesday evening when two boys reportedly threw bricks at a family home. The attack resulted in the destruction of the bedroom window belonging to an 11-year-old girl with special needs, who requires constant care and is blind.
The girl was in her adapted recliner in her ground-floor bedroom when a brick smashed through the window, showering her with glass. Her mother, Abbie, described feeling distraught and scared, emphasizing the trauma inflicted on her daughter.
Following the terrifying event, the girl had to be moved to temporary safe accommodation as her bed was situated near the damaged window. Abbie, who is pregnant, worked with emergency services and social services to secure suitable housing.
CCTV footage revealed two boys throwing the bricks, with one entering the girl's room. The community has since assisted in sharing the footage online to help identify those responsible. The window has been repaired, allowing the daughter to return home. Humberside Police are actively investigating the criminal damage and urge anyone with information or relevant CCTV footage to come forward.
