Bradford Shops Shut Down Over N2O & Booze Sales
28 Aug
Summary
- Three Bradford shops temporarily closed due to illegal sales.
- Nitrous oxide, fake alcohol, and cigarettes were sold.
- Closures were granted for three months by magistrates.
Three commercial establishments in Bradford have been subjected to three-month closure orders following their association with criminal activities. These premises include Jimmy's, Great Horton Road Shop, and an adjacent storeroom. The illegal operations involved the sale of nitrous oxide, commonly known as laughing gas, alongside counterfeit alcohol and untaxed cigarettes.
Authorities initiated the process with 24-hour closure notices on August 20th. A review of Jimmy's alcohol license has also been requested, which could result in its permanent removal. Magistrates approved the full three-month closure orders for Jimmy's at Under Croft, 2 Laisteridge Lane, and 99 Great Horton Road, while Great Horton Road Shop at number 97 will remain closed until November 27th. These measures aim to protect communities from anti-social behaviour and illegal trading practices.
