Teen Girl Survives 40ft Fall After Attack

A controlling boyfriend, Jordan Herring, has been sentenced to five years in prison for throwing his teenage girlfriend from the fourth floor of a tower block. The harrowing incident occurred on November 12, 2022, in Solihull, Birmingham. CCTV footage captured the 18-year-old victim plummeting nearly 40 feet onto grass, narrowly missing a concrete pavement. She survived but suffered critical injuries including a collapsed lung, shattered pelvis, broken ribs, and a spinal fracture.

During a cannabis-fueled rage, Herring attacked his partner after finding messages on her phone. He had exhibited increasingly controlling and abusive behavior since she moved in with him in April 2022. The victim recounted Herring's chilling threat, 'I will throw you out, I will kill you,' moments before the fall. She spent a month in intensive care and required a wheelchair for months, enduring constant pain.

Herring was convicted of grievous bodily harm and controlling/coercive behavior, though acquitted of attempted murder. The judge described him as a 'dangerous offender.' The court heard Herring attempted to coerce the victim into lying about the incident, and his mother was also involved in the aftermath, delaying emergency services. Herring claimed the victim fell after they argued, but evidence contradicted this.
