New South Wales Police Inspector Amy Scott, recognized for her exceptional bravery during the Bondi Junction stabbing attack, has recently been diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of breast cancer. Scott was the initial officer on the scene on April 13, 2024, confronting the perpetrator, Joel Cauchi, alone and ultimately shooting him after he advanced on her with a knife. She later attempted to perform CPR on him.
Following her heroic actions, which resulted in the deaths of six people and injuries to ten others, Scott was awarded the Commissioner's Valour award. The NSW Police Legacy charity announced her diagnosis, emphasizing her role as a devoted wife and mother of two young boys. A fundraiser established to support her and her family has already raised almost $65,000, demonstrating significant community support.
