Couple Died Fighting Bondi Terrorist

Boris Gurman, 69, and his wife Sofia, 61, were tragically killed on Sunday while attempting to disarm Sajid Akram, the perpetrator of the Bondi Beach massacre. Dashcam footage captured the harrowing moments where Boris wrestled the weapon away from the attacker, with his wife nearby, before they were both shot on the sidewalk.

The couple, who were Russian Jews and had resided in Australia for many years, were lauded as heroes for their courageous actions. Sofia Gurman was reportedly days away from celebrating her 62nd birthday. Their bravery came as 15 people lost their lives and 40 were injured in Australia's second-worst mass shooting.

Their sacrifice occurred at the beginning of the attack, as they were the first to confront the gunman. While other victims and a hero bystander who also confronted the shooter have been identified, the Gurmans' selfless act highlights the extreme bravery shown during the horrific event.
