Dunn described the intense chaos as she ran for safety, witnessing dozens of people fleeing a beach festival where children had been moments before. From her apartment balcony, she observed police activity and heard loudspeaker announcements warning citizens to stay indoors. The incident deeply affected her, as friends shared graphic videos of the aftermath, including distressing images of casualties.

The attack, which left 12 people dead, including children, has been described by officials as a terror attack. The gunmen opened fire at a Jewish holiday celebration, 'Chanukah by the Sea.'
