11 Nov
Summary
- Alleged bomb threat at Ajith Kumar's residence in Chennai
- Police search finds no explosives, declares it a hoax
- Similar threats made against other Tamil Nadu celebrities

In a concerning incident, the residence of popular Tamil actor Ajith Kumar in Injambakkam, Chennai, was the target of an alleged bomb threat on November 9th, 2025. The threat was reported to the authorities, prompting a swift response from the police.
Officers immediately deployed a bomb squad to Ajith Kumar's house along East Coast Road (ECR) and conducted a thorough search of the premises and surrounding area. After a few hours of inspection, the police declared the threat to be a hoax, as no explosives were found during the operation.
This incident comes on the heels of a similar bomb threat made against actor Arun Vijay. According to sources, the Director General of Police (DGP) office had recently received an email from an unidentified individual claiming that a bomb had been planted at Arun Vijay's residence in Ekkattuthangal. However, a subsequent search by the police and bomb disposal experts found no explosive materials.
The pattern of targeting well-known figures has raised concerns among residents and prompted calls for increased security measures at celebrities' homes. In October, composer Ilaiyaraaja's T Nagar studio was also the subject of a hoax bomb alert, adding to the growing list of high-profile individuals affected by such incidents.
Other prominent personalities, including Rajinikanth, Dhanush, Vijay, Trisha, and Nayanthara, have reportedly received similar threats in recent months. Authorities have intensified efforts to trace the origins of these threats, which have become increasingly frequent.
The situation has not only impacted individual residences but has also seen several key locations in Chennai, such as the Chief Minister's residence, the Opposition leader's house, the Governor's Mansion, and major railway stations, being subject to bomb threats, indicating a broader issue affecting the city's sense of safety.
