Summary
- Woman's dismembered remains discovered under patio 15 years after disappearance.
- Partner accused of murder allegedly dismembered victim using butcher skills.
- Daughter's testimony revealed 'gender reassignment' discussions before disappearance.

A woman's life ended violently approximately 15 years ago, with her dismembered remains discovered buried beneath a patio in Derby last June. The accused, Anna Podedworna, is currently on trial at Derby Crown Court, facing charges of murder, preventing a lawful burial, and perverting the course of justice, all of which she denies.
Jurors heard that Podedworna, who had allegedly learned dismemberment techniques from her previous employment as a butcher, is accused of cutting the victim's body in half. She is also accused of then 'getting on with her life as normal,' which included having two children before contacting Derbyshire Police in 2025 to reveal the location of her former partner's remains.
The victim's daughter, Katarzyna Zablocka, testified via video link from Poland. She recalled her mother and Podedworna discussing 'gender reassignment' surgery prior to her mother's disappearance in 2009. The daughter, who was around seven when her mother began the relationship with Podedworna, described their relationship as 'volatile and tense'.
