Body Found Near Gravel Pit Sparks Investigation

The Rapides Parish Sheriff's Office is conducting an investigation following the discovery of a deceased individual on Monday afternoon. The body, identified as a white male, was found near a gravel pit situated off St. Clair Road, close to Kendall Lane, in the Cotile community. Deputies were dispatched to the scene around 4:15 p.m. after being notified of the discovery. Detectives and Crime Scene investigators were promptly on site to commence their investigation. The area has been designated an active crime scene as of 5 p.m. on Monday. Following the clearance of the scene, the remains will be handed over to the Rapides Parish Coroner's Office for further examination. The Sheriff's Office is urging anyone with pertinent information to come forward and assist with the ongoing inquiry by contacting them directly or Crime Stoppers of CenLa.
