Influencer Blessing CEO Faces N13M Fraud Charge

Blessing Okoro, operating as Blessing CEO, was arraigned on June 10, 2026, in Lagos before Justice Yelim Bogoro. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) presented six charges against the influencer, alleging she obtained N13 million through false pretenses by retaining proceeds from fraudulent claims.

These charges arose after the EFCC received petitions, including one from the Nigeria Cancer Society. The petitioners reportedly donated funds based on Okoro's social media posts claiming a battle with stage four breast cancer, only for it to be later discovered that she allegedly falsified documents.

This arraignment follows a similar legal action just one day prior, on June 9, 2026, where Blessing CEO faced two counts of fraud and stealing totaling N69,150,000. The Nigerian corruption police also announced that a Federal High Court in Lagos had granted her bail on a separate N36 million rental fraud accusation.

Nigerians had previously urged the EFCC to prosecute Blessing CEO over accusations of making false claims about having stage four cancer to solicit donations, totaling N13 million according to the influencer. Her claims, initially met with sympathy, later faced skepticism, prompting demands for medical results.

In a viral interview, Okoro attributed the situation to miscommunication, stating she had only received biopsy results and had not started chemotherapy. An EFCC source emphasized that the agency does not act solely on social media agitation but requires formal petitions to initiate investigations and prosecutions.
