In a significant crackdown on organized crime, police in Bhojpur district successfully apprehended five members of an inter-district bike-theft gang on Monday. The operation, a collaborative effort involving the Ara Town, Babura, Chandi, and Barhara police stations along with the District Intelligence Unit, resulted in the recovery of 11 stolen motorcycles.
The investigation was initiated following the arrest of Rahul Kumar Tiwari in Dharhara, which subsequently led to the capture of four other accomplices. Authorities indicated that the gang was actively using the stolen bikes for nefarious purposes, including liquor smuggling and other illegal operations near local sand ghats.
This decisive action has been credited with a notable reduction in bike theft incidents in the region. Police officials reported a decrease in cases from 200 in the previous year to 103 so far in the current year, demonstrating the effectiveness of their intensified law enforcement efforts.
