In Bikaner, a significant seizure of suspected ambergris, valued at approximately Rs 70 lakh, took place near the railway station on Saturday. Acting on intelligence from Military Intelligence, a joint team of CID-CB and Kotegate police intercepted three individuals, including two minors, detaining them in connection with the discovery. The substance, described as jelly-like, weighed around 650 grams.
This operation has led to the registration of a case under the Wild Life (Protection) Act, 1972, initiating an investigation into a potential interstate network involved in its procurement and supply. Preliminary findings suggest a larger quantity was ordered after a sample was sent to Bikaner about 15 days prior.
The detained adult has been identified as Aiman Javed Bangar, 20, from Ratnagiri, Maharashtra. The minors hail from Mumbai and Uttar Pradesh. Investigators are now searching for a person named Haider, reportedly from Ratnagiri, who allegedly arranged the substance's transport. Efforts are also underway to identify the recipient of the consignment and the person who initially requested the sample.
