Bhopal Youth Dies After Alleged Police Assault

On 2025-10-11, a 21-year-old youth named Udit Gayaki died in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, after allegedly being beaten by two on-duty policemen. The incident occurred around 1:30 am on 2025-10-10 when Udit was partying with friends in the parking area beside a garden in the Indrapuri locality.
Udit's friends and family allege that the two policemen, constables Santosh Bamnia and Saurabh Arya, entered the car, started abusing the group, and then chased and beat Udit with batons when he tried to run away. After the assault, Udit's condition deteriorated, and he died about two and a half hours later during treatment at AIIMS Bhopal.
Udit Gayaki, the only son of his family, had recently completed his BTech and was about to return to Bengaluru to pursue higher studies. Taking cognizance of the matter, senior police officials have suspended the two constables involved. The police are currently seeking legal opinion to determine whether the accused constables should be charged with murder or culpable homicide.
