A 16-year-old boy in Bhopal was murdered, allegedly because of a social media hoax claiming human testicles could be sold for millions in Gulf countries. Police identified 20-year-old BBA student Zoheb Khan as the alleged mastermind behind the crime. Khan reportedly used the false information from a social media reel to convince four accomplices that the victim's testicles could be sold for between Rs 1 crore and Rs 1.5 crore. To add credibility, Khan allegedly posed as a medical student using a purchased apron and stethoscope.
The grim discovery was made on August 10 when the decomposed body of the teenager was found at Lower Lake. A postmortem confirmed fatal injuries and the removal of his testicles. Investigators revealed that the group had made prior attempts to lure other boys, one of whom escaped and another who did not show up. On August 6, the victim was lured from Iqbal Maidan under the guise of assisting in a fight and subsequently murdered near Dhobi Ghat.
Following the killing, the removed testicles were allegedly kept on ice for two days as the accused searched for a buyer. When the plan collapsed due to the inability to find a buyer or preserve the organs, Khan allegedly instructed his associates to dispose of them in separate water bodies, Upper Lake and Lower Lake. Divers are scheduled to search these lakes to help reconstruct the crime. Police are also questioning individuals the accused allegedly approached for the sale, as the claim about the high value of human testicles is confirmed to be a social media hoax.
