On November 14, 2025, police in Bhopal arrested a 21-year-old man for running a counterfeit currency operation from his home. The accused, identified as Vivek Yadav, a resident of Karond in Bhopal, was found circulating fake Rs 500 notes in the Nizamuddin area.
During the investigation, police discovered that Yadav had set up a sophisticated counterfeiting setup in his residence. They seized fake notes worth over Rs 2 lakh, along with a printer, cutting tools, special paper, and other equipment used in the operation. Yadav confessed to circulating Rs 5-6 lakh worth of counterfeit currency in the market.
Yadav's previous experience working at a printing press had helped him understand the technical aspects of currency production, including color combinations and precision cutting. He had also learned the entire process by watching online tutorials and carefully cross-checking each note to ensure it looked genuine.
The police have launched a thorough investigation to determine the extent of Yadav's counterfeiting activities and any potential accomplices. They are also working to trace the distribution network and prevent further circulation of the fake currency.
