Bhopal Crime Branch Busts Illegal Drug Trafficking Ring, Seizes 5.1 kg of Ganja

In a significant crackdown on illegal drug trade, the Bhopal Crime Branch has arrested two women and seized 5.1 kg of ganja (cannabis) worth around Rs 1.5 lakh. The arrests were made on November 5th, 2025, after a reliable informant tipped off the authorities about the women's activities.

According to the police, the accused women, identified as Sita (45) and Sauda Bai (50), both residents of Arjun Nagar slum in Obedullaganj, Raisen district, were sitting near a private bank ground in MP Nagar Zone-1, waiting to sell the drugs. The Crime Branch team immediately surrounded and arrested the women, recovering three packets of ganja weighing 2.6 kg from Sita and two packets weighing 2.4 kg from Sauda Bai.

The investigation revealed that the women were involved in an illicit drug trafficking network, buying ganja at low prices and selling it at higher rates in the Chhola and Nishatpura areas of Bhopal. A case has been registered against the duo under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and further investigation is underway to trace their supply chain and any other links in the illegal trade.
