14 Mar
Summary
- Over 21kg of opium was seized during a highway blockade.
- Three alleged smugglers were arrested in the operation.
- The seizure occurred during the opium harvesting season.

In a targeted operation on Friday, the Rayla police in Bhilwara, alongside the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF), successfully intercepted a vehicle carrying a significant quantity of illicit drugs. During a blockade established on the Bhilwara-Jaipur National Highway, officers searched a pickup truck and discovered 21 kilograms and 739 grams of opium. The contraband was found to be packed into 12 separate plastic bags.
The operation led to the immediate arrest of three individuals believed to be involved in smuggling. The arrested suspects have been identified as Manphul, aged 26, from Bikaner district, and Subhash Chandra Juriya, aged 35, and Kailash, aged 20, both from Ganganagar district. A case has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and authorities are currently interrogating the accused.
This seizure is particularly significant as it occurred during the opium harvesting season, a period when smuggling activities typically increase in districts like Bhilwara, Chittorgarh, and Pratapgarh. The Superintendent of Police has directed all police stations within the district to implement stringent measures to curb the illegal transportation of opium and enhance surveillance.
