In Bengaluru, a 21-year-old woman residing in a paying guest accommodation experienced a terrifying assault on the afternoon of December 22. An individual she knew from Instagram, 29-year-old Naveen Kumar N, allegedly stalked and attacked her. Following the survivor's complaint, police swiftly apprehended Naveen within 24 hours.
The victim, who had been receiving unwanted attention for months, reported that Naveen became aggressive after she rejected his advances. Despite her attempts to distance herself by quitting her job and moving PG accommodation, he allegedly continued to track and harass her. The assault culminated when Naveen intercepted her and a friend on December 22, leading to a physical altercation.
Authorities have registered a case under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including stalking and sexual harassment. Naveen, during interrogation, claimed they were in a relationship and assaulted her out of anger. CCTV footage of the incident has since circulated widely, underscoring the severity of the case.
