On October 25, 2025, a 17-year-old girl and her four juvenile friends allegedly murdered the girl's 34-year-old mother, Netravathi, in Bengaluru's Uttarahalli area. The group then staged the murder to look like a suicide, hanging Netravathi's body from the ceiling fan.
The case initially appeared to be a suicide, but Netravathi's elder sister, Anitha, grew suspicious when the girl went to her grandmother's home and confessed that her friends had killed her mother. Anitha alerted the police, who then got the minor to confess to the crime.
According to the police, the girl and her friends had problems with Netravathi's partner and planned the murder after the victim complained about them to the authorities. The four boys, including the girl's 17-year-old boyfriend, are accused of assaulting Netravathi and her partner, Ravi Kumar, on October 20 and taking Rs 15,000 from the house.
