A medical student pursuing dentistry in Bengaluru has died by suicide, prompting her family to file a complaint against college faculty for alleged mental harassment. The student, Yashaswini, was reportedly subjected to humiliating remarks about her skin colour and aspirations.
According to the complaint, lecturers also made derogatory comments about her clothing and denied her opportunities, including seminar attendance and radiology case work. These actions contributed to academic harassment.
A case has been registered at Suryanagar Police Station against five lecturers, including the college principal, based on the mother's detailed complaint. The family is demanding strict action against those responsible for the student's death.
