This operation, which commenced on the evening of March 6, 2026, and continued into the early hours of March 7, 2026, resulted in the registration of 40 cases.
Across 13 police station limits within the North Division, law enforcement teams meticulously checked public spaces where smoking is prohibited. They also inspected commercial establishments and shops for any illegal display of tobacco advertisements. A total of 295 individuals were fined for their non-compliance with the COTPA Act.
Police officials confirmed that these types of operations are ongoing to ensure strict adherence to anti-tobacco regulations and to discourage smoking in public areas. The department intends to maintain this enforcement to uphold public health standards.
