A Lokayukta raid on Friday uncovered allegedly missing land records at the Bengaluru South special tahsildar's office, exposing potential corruption in a land transfer case near Kengeri. Landowner R Rekha had reported that officials demanded a bribe to process her land transfer, which she declined.
Following her refusal, revenue department officials issued an acknowledgement stating her original land documents were "missing." Rekha then filed a complaint with the Lokayukta, prompting a search warrant for the special tahsildar and assistant commissioner offices in the south division.
During the operation, the crucial land documents related to Rekha's case were found within the special tahsildar's office. The Lokayukta has indicated that investigations are continuing, suggesting more irregularities may come to light.
