The incident came to light on Sunday morning when the victim's husband returned from Dubai. He discovered his wife unresponsive in their bedroom and Devaraju hanging in the same room. Police were alerted and immediately arrived at the scene to investigate the gruesome discovery.
Authorities have registered a case of rape and murder based on the complaint filed by the victim's daughter. Preliminary findings from the autopsy suggest the woman died from neck compression, and she was sexually assaulted. Police suspect Devaraju, who was known to consume alcohol nightly, committed suicide after realizing his wife had died.
Devaraju had been employed by the family for ten years and had gained their trust to the extent of living in their residence. The investigation is ongoing, with police awaiting the final autopsy report for conclusive evidence.
