In west Bengaluru, a chilling murder planned months in advance has led to the arrest of a 40-year-old software engineer, Balamurugan. His 39-year-old estranged wife, Bhuvaneshwari, a bank manager, was fatally shot at close range near the Rajajinagar Industrial Area on Tuesday. The accused surrendered to the police, handing over a pistol and ammunition, which he had allegedly procured through illegal channels about four months prior.
Investigators revealed that Balamurugan carried a knife as a backup, stating he was determined not to miss the opportunity to kill his wife, even admitting to feeling no guilt and claiming she "deserved it." During a spot inspection, he calmly narrated shooting five rounds and ensuring she was dead before surrendering. Four spent cartridges were recovered from the scene.
Balamurugan and Bhuvaneshwari married in 2011. Marital disputes reportedly intensified around four years into the marriage, fueled by Balamurugan's suspicions about his wife's fidelity. Despite attempts at reconciliation and the birth of their two children, the conflicts persisted. Bhuvaneshwari's family has also alleged that Balamurugan subjected both her and their children to abuse.
