Bengaluru's home minister has declared a resolute zero-tolerance stance against drug-related offenses, indicating readiness to demolish properties utilized by drug peddlers. This aggressive approach is part of broader efforts to eradicate the drug menace, including extensive awareness campaigns in educational institutions.
The police have reported a significant rise in drug-related cases, with 4,168 registered in 2024 and a further increase to 5,747 in 2025. Foreign nationals continue to be implicated in these networks, leading to the deportation of 300 individuals over the last two years.
To combat drug trafficking, which operates through inter-state and international networks, the state has enhanced surveillance, deployed special patrol teams, and established an Anti-Narcotics Task Force. Officials face stern warnings, with criminal cases threatened for any discovered lapses.
