Bengaluru Man Arrested for Stealing 350L Diesel

In a swift operation, Byatarayanapura police apprehended a 24-year-old man on NICE Road for diesel theft. Approximately 350 litres of fuel were seized from a car, which was found parked in an isolated area without a registration number. The suspect, identified as Venkatesh, was questioned and attempted to flee but was subsequently detained.
Venkatesh allegedly confessed to siphoning diesel from parked lorries and heavy vehicles in the vicinity, storing it in plastic containers, and selling it to motorists at reduced prices. He admitted to removing the car's number plate to evade CCTV surveillance and stated the vehicle belonged to his brother, who has been asked to provide documents. Authorities highlighted the danger posed by illegally transporting flammable fuel without safety measures.
A case has been registered at Byatarayanapura police station under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including endangering public safety and theft. Venkatesh has been remanded to judicial custody. Police advise vehicle owners to park in well-lit areas, secure fuel caps, avoid isolated parking, and report suspicious activity promptly to prevent such incidents.
