8 Jul
Summary
- Police arrested whistleblower Sujatha in a daycare abuse case.
- Evidence suggests Sujatha was an equal party to the alleged crimes.
- Investigators found evidence of a staged incident at the daycare.

Bengaluru Police Commissioner Seemant Kumar Singh has defended the arrest of Sujatha, a whistleblower in an alleged toddler abuse case at a daycare within the Capgemini IT firm's campus. Singh stated on Tuesday that investigators have gathered sufficient evidence to designate her as an accused, asserting she was "an equal party to the crime."
The investigation has confirmed that severe misconduct occurred at the daycare, although the exact extent is still being verified. Police indicated that legal procedures were not followed promptly after the incidents, and there was a delay in reporting recorded evidence. Furthermore, investigators discovered evidence suggesting one of the alleged abusive incidents was "stage-managed."
Sujatha, a former caregiver, was arrested on Saturday, becoming the second arrest after caregiver Vijayalakshmi. Videos reportedly show children crying and subjected to physical abuse, including threats, being placed in a washing machine, and locked in bathrooms. Singh declined to provide further details due to the ongoing probe.
