- The gang looted Rs 15.2 lakh from Corporation Bank in 2012.

The Karnataka high court has imposed life sentences and significant fines on four individuals for their involvement in a 2012 bank robbery that resulted in a customer's death. Justices HP Sandesh and Venkatesh Naik T delivered the verdict, sentencing Devesh Kumar Singh, Vikas Kumar Gupta, Premkumar Sahu, and Imran Ali. These convictions stem from a 2012 incident at the Soladevanahalli police station's jurisdiction.
On November 19, 2012, the accused entered the Chikkabanavara branch of Corporation Bank. During the robbery, which yielded Rs 15.2 lakh, a customer named Muralidhar was shot and later succumbed to his injuries. Police apprehended the suspects based on information from Singh, who was traced to a city lodge.
A sessions court had previously convicted Singh in 2016 but acquitted the other three. Following appeals from both the prosecution seeking maximum punishment and Singh challenging his conviction, the high court's division bench re-examined the case. The court found that all four had conspired to commit the robbery, even though only Singh entered the bank.
The division bench emphasized the common object of the conspiracy and confirmed that all charges were proven. The convicts were ordered to surrender immediately. Additionally, 80% of the cumulative Rs 3.6 lakh fine was directed to be paid to Parvathamma, the wife of the deceased Muralidhar.
