Beloved Punjabi Cultural Icon Killed in Shocking Shooting Incident

The murder of Darshan Singh Sahsi, a 68-year-old established businessman and respected cultural figure in Ludhiana, India, has sparked an outpouring of grief across his home state. Sahsi, who maintained strong ties to his ancestral village of Rajgarh near Doraha, was fatally shot near his residence in Abbotsford, Canada, in a targeted attack by unidentified assailants.

Sahsi, who had relocated to Canada decades ago, was widely known for his profound connection to his home state and its language. He was a prominent fixture in Punjabi literary life, serving as a patron of the Punjabi Sahit Akademi in Ludhiana since 2012.
