In a significant operation, the Punjab Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF), collaborating with Bathinda police, apprehended two suspects, Jacky Kumar and Vikas Arora, both residents of Bathinda. The arrests were made on Saturday after reliable intelligence indicated the duo was planning a robbery targeting a local businessman. Authorities recovered two illegal country-made .32 bore pistols, along with magazines and four live cartridges. Vikas Arora is noted to have a previous criminal history, including an involvement in a domestic violence case.
The recovered weapons are believed to have been acquired from Delhi, and ongoing investigations aim to uncover additional links and the supply chain. The operation was initiated following specific information about the suspects being sighted in the Panchwati area of Bathinda. Upon attempting to flee from a police checkpoint near GT Road, the suspects were swiftly apprehended. An FIR has been lodged under the Arms Act at the Kotwali Bathinda police station, underscoring the serious nature of the recovered firearms and the foiled criminal enterprise.
