Woman Branded, Tortured for Dowry in Banda

In an alleged case of extreme dowry harassment, a married woman in Banda's Kotwali area was subjected to severe physical and mental torment by her in-laws. Her father lodged an FIR against her husband, father-in-law, and two sisters-in-law, citing demands for Rs 20 lakh.
The victim's mother detailed the horrifying ordeal in a written complaint, alleging her daughter was beaten, branded with hot tongs, and forced to consume poisonous liquid. The father-in-law was also accused of molestation.
Further allegations included the in-laws forcibly transferring the woman's vehicle into their name and threatening her with divorce. The woman became ill due to the mistreatment and was abandoned at her parental home on December 21.
Following treatment for the victim, the women's police station registered an FIR against six individuals based on the SP's orders.
