A distressing incident occurred at Balrampur Hospital recently, where a 60-year-old woman from Ambedkar Nagar was defrauded of her jewelry. The complainant had arrived in Lucknow on February 7 for medical care, accompanied by her daughter and son-in-law.
While her family members were attending to other matters, an unidentified man approached the woman. He falsely claimed her daughter had sent him to assist her for a medical examination requiring a signature. The conman led her away from the main building to a less conspicuous spot near a garbage dump.
There, the man instructed the woman to remove all her jewelry, assuring its return after a supposed procedure. Trusting his words, she handed over her ornaments, only for the man to abscond with them. Realizing the deception after a long wait, she reported the incident to the authorities.
An FIR has been filed at the Wazirganj police station, and investigations are underway. Law enforcement is actively reviewing CCTV footage from the hospital and surrounding areas to identify and apprehend the perpetrator.
