Domestic Offender's Bail Before Triple Murder Stuns Court
11 Apr
Summary
- Accused triple murderer was on bail for assault and stalking charges.
- His lawyer argued court appearance was unnecessary just weeks prior.
- Bail was continued without considering his criminal history or danger.

Julian Ingram, 37, appeared in Lake Cargelligo Local Court on December 3, facing charges of stalking, assaulting his ex-girlfriend Sophie Quinn, and destroying her property. He admitted to damaging her property but denied the other charges, with a trial set for February 3. However, on January 22, Ingram allegedly shot and killed Ms. Quinn, 25, along with John Harris, 32, and Ms. Quinn's aunt, Nerida, 50, before wounding a neighbour. Ingram had already been subject to six apprehended violence orders.
During the December court appearance, Ingram's lawyer stated that his presence was unnecessary as he intended to plead guilty to property damage. Despite being on bail, Magistrate Michael Maher continued his bail, reportedly without reviewing his criminal history or assessing the danger he posed to Ms. Quinn. Ingram was subject to strict bail conditions, including reporting daily to police and a prohibition on contacting or harming Ms. Quinn. Tragically, less than two weeks after this court date, Ms. Quinn and two others were dead, and Ingram was on the run.
