21 Feb
Summary
- Court denied bail for a co-accused in a serious kidnapping case.
- The kidnapping involved a Rs15 lakh ransom demand from a scrap dealer.
- Allegations include impersonating police and assault during abduction.

A sessions court in Pune has rejected the bail application of Ashok Ganpat Bansode, who is implicated in the alleged September 2024 kidnapping of a scrap dealer. The incident involved a demand for Rs15 lakh ransom.
Additional sessions judge Surekha R Patil emphasized the serious nature of the allegations and the modus operandi, which suggested an ulterior motive. The court noted that Bansode's alleged role was similar to that of other co-accused, whose bail requests had previously been denied.
The victim was allegedly abducted by individuals posing as Crime Branch police officers after refusing to purchase a car. He reported being assaulted and threatened with an 'encounter' before being released near a petrol pump. The FIR was registered under various sections of the BNS and Arms Act.
