Baby Trafficking Ring Busted: Dozens Sold Across Borders

Nineteen individuals, including a 70-year-old mastermind, have been found guilty in Indonesia for their involvement in trafficking at least 34 babies between 2022 and 2025.

The convicted operated an organized network across West Java, moving infants from various locations to Depok and then Pontianak before some were flown to Singapore.

Babies were sold for thousands of pounds, with the operation being uncovered in 2025 after a father reported his newborn son taken without consent.

Sentences range from three years and four months to seven years. The mastermind, Lie Siu Luan, received seven years, while others involved in recruitment and document forgery also received significant jail terms.

Babies rescued during arrests will be placed under state care. Investigations into adoption agents in Singapore are ongoing, leaving adoptive parents there in uncertainty about their children's future.
