A 44-year-old man, Michael Phillips, will stand trial for the alleged stabbing of his infant son. The incident occurred in February, when Phillips is accused of stabbing the 3-month-old baby in the stomach and then discarding him into the snow.
The child's mother reported that Phillips had made statements suggesting he intended to sacrifice the baby prior to the violent act. The infant was airlifted to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) for emergency surgery and is still in the process of recovering from his injuries.
Phillips' bail has been denied, and he is currently in custody awaiting further proceedings. The Chester County authorities are prosecuting the case.
