A tragic incident in San Diego has concluded with the death of a newborn, approximately a week after its teenage mother was murdered. The 17-year-old mother, identified as Jariah Edwards, was found with a fatal gunshot wound on May 30.
Edwards, who was visiting San Diego from Arizona, was about 32 weeks pregnant at the time of the shooting. She was delivered via an emergency C-section after the attack.
The infant was taken off life support on June 7, having sustained a severe hypoxic brain injury. Authorities have arrested 19-year-old Trevon Williams, identified as Edwards' ex-boyfriend, in connection with the crimes.
Williams allegedly lured Edwards out of her rental property with flowers before shooting her. He was apprehended shortly after fleeing the scene. Court documents reveal alleged past violence, and Edwards had reportedly been planning to file a restraining order.
