Brothers Accused of Rape in Azamgarh After False Marriage Promises

In Azamgarh, police have initiated legal action against two brothers, one of whom previously served as the chairman of Nagar Panchayat Jiyanpur, following a complaint of rape filed by a young woman. The FIR, registered on December 2nd, details serious allegations of physical and mental exploitation, including rape facilitated by intoxicating substances and deceitful marriage proposals.
The complainant, a law student, alleges that one of the brothers proposed marriage in February 2024, subsequently raping her in August 2024 after gaining her trust. She claims he threatened to release videos and photos unless she agreed to a live-in relationship. When the other brother, Harishankar Yadav, learned of the situation, he allegedly raped her at his residence after administering an intoxicating substance in tea.
Following these alleged incidents, the victim states Kripashankar Yadav ceased communication and threatened her life, reneging on his marriage proposal. The legal proceedings are currently underway as authorities investigate the grave accusations leveled against the two brothers.
