A fatal shooting near Buford's bar in Austin on Sunday morning claimed the lives of two individuals, including 19-year-old Texas Tech University student Ryder Harrington. The gunman, identified as 53-year-old Ndiaga Diagne, a naturalized American citizen from Senegal, was killed by responding police officers. Of the 14 injured, several were hospitalized, with some discharged and others in stable condition as of Monday. Karan Bhakta, a University of Texas at Austin senior, was among those treated for minor injuries.
Harrington's family has expressed profound grief over his untimely death, highlighting his positive impact on those around him. The fraternity is planning a candlelight vigil to honor his memory. The identity of the second victim has not yet been released.
