Brady Lum, the former chief operating officer of the High Museum of Art in Atlanta, resigned on December 9 amid an internal investigation. He is accused of misappropriating around $600,000 from the museum over a span of three to four years. The Woodruff Arts Center, the parent organization of the High Museum, believes Lum acted alone in abusing his executive position to access and conceal the theft. The governing board of Woodruff has decided to refer the case to the US Attorney's Office in Atlanta, which has passed it to the FBI for review.
Woodruff CEO and President Hala Moddelmog confirmed that an investigation was initiated in December after financial irregularities were discovered. A law firm and an independent forensic accountant were hired to scrutinize the museum's finances. Despite the allegations, the Woodruff Arts Center stated that it does not anticipate any negative impact on its financial stability or operations. The organization is committed to strong stewardship and is implementing improvements to its processes.
