Friend Arrested in Athens Triple Shooting Tragedy

An Athens parking lot became the scene of a fatal triple shooting early Saturday morning, resulting in one death and two individuals sustaining critical injuries. The incident occurred around 2:30 AM in the 400 block of North Jackson Street.
The victim who died was identified as 22-year-old Clayton Adams of Hull, Ga. The identities of the other two victims, who were transported to a hospital in critical condition, have not yet been released by police.
One of the critically injured victims is reportedly 20-year-old Landon Skinner. His mother, Shanna Duren, identified him and expressed gratitude towards Adams and the other victim, calling them heroes for their actions in attempting to help her son.
Investigators have since arrested Mark Desousa, 22, of Jefferson, Ga., in connection with the shooting. He faces charges including malice murder, aggravated assault, and aggravated battery. Duren expressed shock at the arrest, noting Desousa had been friends with her son for six years and worked with him.
