What began as a celebration during Ganesh immersion festivities took a violent turn after a minor disagreement escalated into a group assault. The incident occurred in Attawa, Sector 42, following a Ganesh idol immersion ceremony where a DJ was playing music. During the dancing, an argument reportedly erupted when one individual accidentally stepped on another's foot.
This dispute rapidly escalated, with several youths allegedly surrounding and physically assaulting the victim, identified as Deepak, a resident of Attawa. He was subjected to kicks and punches, and also sustained an injury from a sharp-edged weapon. Despite attempts by bystanders to intervene, the assault continued.
Deepak was admitted to GMSH-16 for medical treatment. A video of the incident, showing the group attack, has surfaced. Police Station-36 has registered a case based on Deepak's complaint and is actively investigating, including scrutinizing CCTV footage from the area to identify the perpetrators.
