Five individuals are currently detained for questioning by Uppinangady police following an alleged assault near Kapinabagilu on August 11. The incident involves a man, identified as Sheikh Mukhtar, who was reportedly traveling towards Hassan with an acquaintance's minor daughter.
Mukhtar claims that his car was intercepted, and he was verbally abused and physically assaulted by a group of individuals who questioned him about the girl. Based on his complaint, a case was registered under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
In a parallel development, the minor girl's mother has filed a counter-complaint. She alleges that Mukhtar forcibly took her daughter in his car. Uppinangady police have registered a zero FIR based on her complaint, and investigations into both claims are ongoing.
