A 26-year-old man was arrested on Friday in Croydon, nearly five years after the fatal stabbing of 16-year-old Camron Smith. The incident occurred in the early hours of July 1, 2021, when a group of men forced entry into Camron's Shrublands home. During the violent intrusion, Camron was fatally stabbed in front of his mother, Audrey Johnson, who attempted to protect him.
This arrest marks a significant development in the ongoing investigation, with police reiterating their dedication to securing justice for Camron and his family. It follows the sentencing of four other men in November 2025. Romario Gordon and Jordan Tcheuko received 13 and 15 years respectively for manslaughter. Romain La Pierre was sentenced to life with a minimum of 28 years for murder and robbery, while James Olanipekun received eight years for manslaughter and robbery. Police had previously stated that two more suspects were being sought in connection with the case.
